Late in the month of January, 2012 buffalo.ynn.com reported that there was an FBI roundup of some of the area worst criminals. On a given morning many different police agencies and SWAT teams brought down nearly a dozen suspected gang members and drug dealers. This was Buffalo’s first raid of the New Year.
US Attorney William Hochul, Jr., said, “This organization was occasionally known as the Lombard, Rother, Gibson, Plater Gang or LRGP for short, and was responsible for according to the complaint for acts of violence and narcotics trafficking in the city of Buffalo.” The federal authorities stated a 27 year old is the leader of this gang and he had been trafficking various forms of cocaine through the Queen city for the past six months. Chris Piehota, FBI Special Agent, said, “We see in Buffalo, many gangs are becoming more organized, more sophisticated, and continue to use violence to control neighborhoods and advance elicited moneymaking schemes.” At this time they are not disclosing how much cocaine was seized but they do make the statement that some of the area’s most violent criminal living right there in New York are now off the streets. Dan Derenda, Buffalo Police Department Commissioner, said, “They have a long history responsible for many shootings, some are involved in homicides, so we will look at the history of some of these individuals and the groups they run with and that’s how we target who we go after.” All of those that were arrested are now facing numerous federal conspiracy charges and they could go to prison for up to 20 years and have a one million dollar fine. Let’s hope that the individuals they got hooked on drugs have gotten themselves to Buffalo drug rehabs.
Drugs are very harmful to us our families and our communities. If you know someone who wants to get off drugs; get them to an inpatient treatment center or crystal meth rehab where they can get safe and natural ways to detox and withdraw. Something can be done about it.
