What is meth made from?

Methamphetamine is a synthetic chemical, which mean it is manmade.  Cocaine comes from a plant but not Meth.

You will usually find Meth being made in an illegal hidden laboratory.  They will mix different kinds of forms of amphetamines which is another stimulant drug.  They will also mix derivatives with other chemicals to boost its potency.  Common pills for cold remedies are often used as the basis for the production of the drug.  What a dangerous mixture.  Nothing but poison for your body.  The Meth “cook” extracts ingredients from those pills and to increase its strength combines the substance with chemicals such as battery acid, drain cleaner, lantern fuel and antifreeze.  Now I don’t know about you but that sounds like a sure way to commit suicide!!

Crystal Meth: What is it?

The words crystal meth are short for crystal methamphetamine.  It is just one form of the drug methamphetamine.

Let’s see if we can’t find the truth about drugs such as Crystal Meth instead of just taking them because someone said, “they will make you feel better”.

Orlando realtor allegedly turns meth dealer

Robert Lord Morris, at one time a leading Florida realtor and president-elect of the local realtor association, is currently in jail under accusation of attempting to traffic over $30,000 worth of methamphetamine via FedEx.

Morris, a 48-year-old man, was charged with drug trafficking and with resisting arrest. Morris was arrested after he claimed a FedEx package that contained about half a pound of crystal methamphetamine disguised inside a bag of Meow Mix.

Morris is a father of four and currently undergoing divorce proceedings with his wife, Theresa Morris. The couple filed for divorce in April, the same month that Morris was charged with possession of cocaine.

The incident highlights the broad scale abuse of meth and other drugs in our society. Drug dealers and distributors aren’t just street thugs, but white collar workers as well. Crystal meth dealers range from those who are in it for the black market bucks, to those who need the money from their sales to support their own crystal meth addiction.

Unfortunately, although the seizure of such a quantity of crystal meth is a major victory for law enforcement officials in Florida, the battle is far from over. Shocking Hawaii anti-meth ads are working

Two years ago, the Hawaii Meth Project began running graphic television ads designed to discourage youth from using crystal methamphetamine. The ads are not pleasant to watch, and at some points are downright shocking, but the results can’t be argued with.

Overall, the teenage population of Hawaii became 15% less likely to try crystal meth. These results are attributed to the crystal meth television ad campaign.

The hard-hitting ads showed the real effects of crystal meth on the users. Now new ads are beginning to air that will show what crystal meth can do to the user’s families.

Cindy Adams, a worker for the Hawaii Crystal Meth project, stated that despite the effectiveness of the ads, crystal meth remains an issue for Hawaii. “This drug continues to be a significant problem for our state,” she was quoted as saying. Hawaii drug rehab programs are often not able to deal with crystal meth addiction. The typical rehab success rate with crystal meth is less than 10%.

The project will also be releasing radio ads to go along with the TV blitz.

Crystal Meth Seizures Spike in Middle East

A UAE newspaper has reported a recent spike in crystal meth seizures in the United Arab Emirates. As a matter of fact, 122 kilograms of crystal meth have been seized by authorities just in the first five months of 2011.

These numbers contrast sharply with the less than forty kilograms seized by customs officials in the entirety of 2010.

These statistics would indicate that demand for crystal methamphetamine is increasing in the Middle East and particularly in the UAE. While it is unclear where the crystal meth was shipped from, as this information has not yet been made public, what is clear is that the UAE may soon be facing yet another drug threat in the coming years.

Two Colorado Residents Arrested for Crystal Meth Distribution

According to the Glenwood Springs, Colorado Post Independent, two Colorado residents were arrested in Pennsylvania for participating in crystal meth trafficking and distribution.

James Handzus and Tamara Vincent were charged with flying a plan to Las Vegas for the purposes of purchasing a pound of crystal methamphetamine, then flying to Montgomery County in Pennsylvania in order to sell it.

Montgomery County police received a tip about a crystal meth import ring, and that led to an extensive cross-agency investigation that eventually isolated Handzus as the owner of the plane used in the drug smuggling operations.

An undercover Pennsylvania cop met with Handzus and Vincent. They allegedly described their trip to Las Vegas to purchase the meth, and offered to sell him the pound in “eight balls.” An “eight ball” of crystal meth is one eighth of an ounce, which has a street value of approximately $500. One pound divided into “eight balls” has a street value of over $60,000.

The agent gave the two a $2,000 down payment, and in return was given a sample of crystal meth. They had everything that they needed to prove their case, and so at that point Montgomery authorities made their arrests.

Police seized the plane and searched their luggage, which they discovered to contain a pound of crystal meth. Authorities have announced they will seek forfeiture of the aircraft.

Youth Activist Arrested For Trafficking Crystal Meth

Roberto Nerey has long been an essential activist in Nevada. He is the outspoken youth activist who fights to eliminate gang activity and salvages the lives of hundreds of children who are exposed and recruited to the gang life. He is also the athor of a book entitled, “An American Lation’s Story of Gangs, Prison and Redemption – If Only I Had Known”. In addition to this impressive resume, Nerey is the newest inmate at the Washoe County Jail.

Investigators were tipped off to possible drug activity coming from Nerey’s home. On two separate occasions, undercover agents made purchases of crystal meth totaling $2,800.00. Roberto Nerey is now being held to face two counts of traffkicking, each count carrier a maximum life sentence. Although no one was available for comment on this situation, the city of Las Vegas is in shock that one of it’s greatest anti drug activists has succumbed to the evils of crystal meth.

Pro Skater’s Struggle With Crystal Meth

Former U.S. figure skating champion Nicole Bobek was sentenced to five years probation after investigators found her conspiring to distribute crystal meth. Bobek, who won the 1995 national title, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to five years of probation.

Despite being renowned for her skating abilities and growing up in a very strict environment, Nicole Bobek still fell prey to this insidious, highly addictive drug.
