California is a state that is highly affected by crystal meth abuse. Currently, methamphetamine is the most abused drug in this state. Mexican drug trafficking organizations dominate the manufacturing and sale of this man-made drug for the state of California.
California officials have found meth labs in very different locations. This is dfferent than most parts of the U.S. where meth labs traditionally pop up in rural areas. In California meth labs have been seized in high density residential neighborhoods, sparsely populated rural areas, remote desert locations in the southern portions of California, and the forested areas in northern California.

In an attempt to minimize the amount of meth lab seizures, drug trafficking organizations have began to move meth labs into Mexico and transport the drug over the border into California.
The meth in California has wide ranges of purity levels. Officials report that crystal meth can be as little as 10% pure to 100% pure.
Lawmakers have put several restrictions on the ability purchase pseudoephedrine and ephedrine. At one point methamphetamine producers were acquiring pseudoephedrine from Canada, but have since commisioned China to supply this important ingredient. |
