Crystal meth is one of the most dangerous drugs on the market. This is mostly due to two factors. One is the different ingredients that go into making crystal meth. Producers of this drug use lye, Anhydrus gas, battery acid and sudafed to make this lethal drug. So essentially, addicts are abusing a drug made up entirely of different sorts of chemicals. The second reason why this drug is so dangerous is because of the effect that it has on people. Crystal meth abuse will cause a person to see things that are not there, hear things that are not there and perc eive things that do not exist. This makes them extremely dangerous because they are living in a world that is not the same as everyone else. Everyone has heard stories of crystal meth addicts talking to the air, the wall, the plant, or a car. This is because the drug makes them think that either this is sane or that they are actually talking to something or someone else. The psycosis that ensues after long-term crystal meth use is one of the most dangerous and scary effects of the drug. The only real way this gets handled is by enrolling in a crystal meth rehab.

Iowa Crystal Meth Treatment Centers
There are two main sources that are responsible for the crystal meth epidemic in Iowa. Hispanic trafficking organizations import large quantities of methamphetamine into Iowa, mostly via motor vehicles and mail delivery services. This crystal meth is usually in crystallized form and is known as "Ice". The second main source of this drug is through "mom and pop" meth labs which provide a purer quality of mathamphetamine to users. Local manufacturers bypass laws limiting the sale of pseudoephedrine by using friends and family to purchase large quantities of pseudoephedrine pills from retail stores (known as "surfing"), and theft of anhydrous ammonia have increased.
The stae of Iowa has implemented a program called the Drug Endangered Children program. Iowa's drug endangered children program was established in 2004 as a coordinated response to the impact of parental substance abuse on Iowa children who are often found to be living in deplorable conditions, neglected beyond imagination and suffering at the hands of drug-abusing parents. According to the El Paso Intelligence Center, there were 7 children in Iowa affected by methamphetamine laboratories during 2008.
Reports indicate that more high school females are abusing crystal meth than high school males. This may be because crystal meth is known to make a person lose significant amounts of weight very fast. However this weight loss usually does not last, eventually the person will put the weight right back on.
The Federal government has seized 21 kilograms of methamphetamine in 2008. During that same year, 33.2% of the Federally sentenced defendants in Iowa had committed a drug offense. Approximately 50% of these drug offenses involved methamphetamine.
In 2008, there were 23,225 admissions to drug and alcohol rehabs in the state of Iowa. Crystal meth addicts accounted for 2,323 of these admissions.

There are several ways to tell if someone you know is abusing crystal meth. In fact, as mentioned above, crystal meth addicts often live in a completely different world than the rest of us, so their behaviors are much more eradic and seemingly psychotic than those of a person not under the influence of crystal meth. The most important thing to realize is that if you suspect someone of abusing crystal meth than they probably are, the best way to tell for sure is to administer an at-home drug test. These tests can be purchased from most pharmacies and the results are usually read within a few minutes. Below is a list of common ways to tell if someone is under the influence of crystal meth or they have abused crystal meth recently.
