Crystal meth is one of the few drugs that is made up of entirely man-made products. The chemicals that are found in crystal meth include lye, battery acid, anhydrus gas, sudafed and draino. When a person consumes these chemicals they will, inevitabley, destroy their bodies and mind. Crystal meth reacts with the dopamine receptors in the brain. When a person consumes crystal meth, the drug travels to the brain and tricks the dopamine receptors to dump all the dopamine reserves into the system. This provides the initial euphoric feeling that people experience when they first use the drug. Unfortunately, what happens is that the body soon runs out of the dopamine reserves. Because of this, the person will have mood swings, experience severe depression, crave the drug, and generally have to have something in their system in order to feel "normal".
The key is getting the person into a drug rehab immediately. Over time, and with enough time away from crystal meth, the person will be able to restore the amount of dopamine in their system, allowing them to feel "normal" again. This is only done by quiting crystal meth. Our drug and alcohol counselors will help you find which one of the crystal meth rehabs in Minnesota is best for you.

Crystal Meth Treatment Centers in Minnesota
The state of Minnesota recognizes that they are fighting the crystal meth battle on two sides. The first issue is that Mexican Drug Trafficking organizations are transporting and distributing crystal meth throughout the entire state. These traffickers typically send methamphetamine in 10-20 pound shipments via various forms of transportation, to include commercial vehicles, passenger bus lines, and private automobile. The second problem that the state of Minnesota is faced with is the increasing amount of meth labs, smaller organizations that make and distribute crystal meth.
The state of Minnesota has implemented some new programs to try to combat the crystal meth epidemic. One such program is called the Meth Lab Program. The purpose o the Minnesota Department of Health's Meth Lab Program is to share resources, raise awareness, protect endangered children and provide training and equipment for first responders and other a-risk staff. Another program that was developed in this state is called the Minnesota Meth Watch Program. The Minnesota Meth Watch Program is a voluntary program designed to help curtail the suspicious sale and theft of common household products used in the illicit manufactoruing of methamphetamine.
Unfortunately, these programs are not resulting in more crystal meth seized. In fact, in 2007 the Federal government only seized 8.4 dosage units of crystal meth. This indicates that the methamphetamine in Minnesota is reaching its consumers.
During 2006, 54% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in Minnesota had committed drug offenses. 50.3% of those defendants were there on a crystal meth-related charge.
During 2007, authorities reported that there were 12 children affected by methamphetamine laboratories in Minnesota.
During 2006, there were 47,776 admissions to drug and alcohol rehab in the state of Minnesota. Crystal meth addicts accounted for 5,374 of those admissions. |
