In an attempt to curb the methampehtamien epidemic, the state of Oklahoma has passed several laws. The average lab manufacturing sentence in the state is approximately 20 years. House Bill 2316 passed both the Oklahoma House and Senate in May 2002 and went in to effect on July 1, 2002. This new law puts a 24 gram limit on all cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine or ephedrine. The charge carries a five year maximum sentence. House Bill 2176, made all hard taablet Pseudoephedrine a Scedule V controlled substance in Oklahoma.
It has been noted that Caucasians are the primary abusers of methamphetamine in the state of Oklahoma. Additionally, 4.4% of 9thg raders in this state have reported to abusing crystal meth at least once in their lives. By the time these children reach the 12th grade that percentage rises dramatically. 7.3% of 12th graders have abused crystal meth at least once in their lifetime.
The Federal government seized 9.8 kilograms in 2007. There were 89 meth lab incidents in that same year.
